Artist Statement
My work represents the inner perspective, it is articulated from the poetry of my personality. I explore the inner spaces of the being, towards and deeper search, towards internal and intense force, more heartbreaking of our capacity to be human. I emphasize the essence and the other part of ourselves in the ceremony of our desires. I represent what is impossible to see with the naked eye. I keep the paradox of what we are or would be. For me the soul does not contain a face. I use different materials, buttons, mechanical gears, embroidery, molds, seams, textures, even the unthinkable…
Bio
Yunia Pavon was born in Holguin, Cuba, in 1977. She received her BFA from the Academy of Fine Arts “EL ALBA “in Holguin, Cuba in 1997. She Graduated in 1997 with the Expo-Performance “My Costume Party” where she starred different characters from the Cuban society. She participated in different national and international exhibitions, and she received several awards and mentions in her country. She also was selected to participate in the national award winners in Havana, Cuba. Yunia participated in important exhibitions in Spain, France, Belgium, Germany, Canada, and Mexico from 2000 to 2008. In 2008 she immigrated to the United States where she renewed her artistic activity with a series of paintings and mixed media.
